Luciano will release a new album entitled Tribute To The Sun on October 12, via his own Cadenza label.
It’s the first full-length effort from Chilean DJ/producer Lucien Nicolet since Blind Behaviour, which came out via Peacefrog in 2004, and it’s his first ever under the name Luciano. There have been other "long format" releases in the past five years: including the essential Live @ Weetamix CD for Thomas Brinkmann’s Max Ernst label and 2007’s No Model No Tool, "a recombinant set of groove componnts" no less.
In the past five years he’s deservedly become a genuine superstar DJ, and has curated an impressive stable of work under the Cadenza banner. Tribute To The Sun is 10 track set, and according to a press release it reflects "the ups and downs of the artist’s life, and the balancing act between life on the road and the refuge of family life in rural Switzerland".
The album, which Luciano has been working on for four years features a range of guest contributors: Martina Topley-Bird, best known for her stellar vocal work on Tricky’s early records, Senegalese kora virtuoso Ali Boulo Santo, Switzerland’s Bruno Bieri is the inventor of the Hang, a kind of steel drum "with a sound like a mountain stream", and Israeli percussionist Omri Hason.
