September 26 will see a rare headline DJ set from Aphex Twin at London’s Matter club.

It happens as part of the Warehouse Project’s September schedule: Room 1 will play host to a series of Warp/Rephlex Records affiliated acts. Aphex is arguably the most important British electronic musician of the 90s, taking ambient music to new heights with the seminal Selected Ambient Works 85-92 and Selected Ambient Works 2, and pushing the boundaries of acceptable electronica with Drukqs, ‘Come to Daddy’, ‘Windowlicker’ and the rest. His recent festival sets have seen him play everything from early 90s hardcore to heavy static-filled noise records to Zomby, so half the fun will be seeing what approach he takes armed with Matter’s chest-ploughing soundsystem.

Support comes from IMD veteran Luke Vibert, a live set from Leila, Rephlex drill ‘n’ bass merchant Wisp, and DJ Rephlex Records, who’s at least a billion times better than his name suggests. Room 2 plays host to a producer we’ve had an eye on for a while, Dundee’s Loops Haunt, plus Greg Lord.
