Pantha Du Prince has announced details of his long-awaited third album [via Resident Advisor].
The record is entitled Black Noise, and will be released through Rough Trade on February 8, 2010. His first two LPs have appeared on Dial, the Hamburg-based label that’s home also to the likes of Lawrence and Carsten Jost.
Included on the album is previous single ‘Beyond The Stars’; the previously unheard ‘Stick To My Side’, meanwhile, features vocals from Animal Collective’s Noah ‘Panda Bear’ Lennox. Pantha, you may remember, remixed Animal Collective’s ‘Peacebone’ to marvellous effect back in 2007. Oh, and !!! and LCD Soundsystem bassist Tyler Pope plays bass on ‘The Splendour’.
Black Noise is the follow-up to 2007’s This Bliss, one of the most sublime house/techno full-lengths of the 21st century. The combination of lush, chime-heavy melodic textures and driving dancefloor rhythms is retained for this latest outing, but the basis of the album is apparently a selection of field recordings made in the Swiss Alps.
Pantha – real name Henrik Weber – talks about the making of Black Noise and his decision to work with Rough Trade in a brief Q&A with RA, which you can read here.
