Atlanta’s Gucci here combines forces with Lil Wayne and producer Bangladesh, who provides a dementia-laden beat perfectly suited to Wayne’s free associations and forces Gucci to step it up in the process, whirling his trademark drawled idiosyncrasies into a storm. The instrumental’s stuttering and ominous – you can see ‘Desh running snare rolls through a delay plug-in for a few hours at a time. The rest of the beat obviously came later, but it’s all good because we need more commercial experimentation like this.

All in all, this track is about stupid wild styles: three of rap’s absolute stupidest all in one track. We need to see a whole album of this combination really, as with some time to gel, these three (or four – this track also appears on Gucci’s upcoming album under the name ‘Stupid Wild’ featuring an additional verse from Cam’ron) could solidify into some serious chrome-plated syrup. Or at least they could when Gucci and Wayne get out of jail. Ahem.
