Richie Hawtin will be returning to his Plastikman guise for live performances in 2010.

As far as we know, the only confirmed date so far is at the 2010 Coachella festival, but a note posted by Hawtin on the official Plastikman Facebook page suggests there will be more to come:

“YES the rumours are true! I’m happy to announce that we’ve been testing since last August for ideas for PLASTIKMAN Live 2010! We have a lot more work to do, but I hope to see you all at “one” of the show(s)!? ;).”

Plastikman is the name under which Hawtin first rose to prominence around 1992-3, releasing a number of classic singles and albums over the ensuing years – including Sheet One, ‘Spastik’ and Closer. The last official Plastikman release was in 2007 – the final part of the Nostalgik 12″ series, which consisted of remixes and archival recordings of 90s tracks.

It is not yet known whether Hawtin will be recording new material as Plastikman, but given this news we certainly wouldn’t bet against it. The Coachella festival takes place April 14-16 in Indio, California.
