Alright, so “new UK label forms, releases dubstep-type stuff” is hardly a new development, but we’ve been really into the sounds of Orca lately, a new record label based between London and Bristol. Plus it has animal-themed sleeve art.

The label launched with ‘The Ghost’, a cut from XI backed with a remix by Headhunter, a relative veteran of the dubstep scene who’s currently making splashes with his juke-influenced work under the alias Addison Groove. His ‘Footcrab’ is one of the year’s most ubiquitous dancefloor singles, and his FACT mix sublime – check that out here, and then stream both versions of ‘The Ghost’ here:

This July, the label will release its second single, the blistering ‘Like Silver’ / ‘Phoenix’ by Bristol’s Hyetal. Hyetal made a name for himself last year with the kaleidoscopic dubstep track ‘Pixel Rainbow Sequence’, but this cut is even better – in his own words, ‘Phoenix’ owes little to dubstep and much to Prince and film soundtracks. Say no more:
