Listen: FACT’s week on Spotify (20/08/2010)

1. Forest Swords – Rattling Cage
The mysterious Merseyside-based artist consented to a rare interview with FACT earlier this week; this track is from his new 7″ for No Pain In Pop.

2. Stereolab – Whisper Pitch
Stereolab’s upcoming Not Music album may turn out to be their last. One way or another, they’ll be remembered as one of the most imaginative and important bands of their era, thanks in no small part to plaintive numbers like ‘Whisper Pitch’.

3. Tamaryn – Mild Confusion
Now signed to Mexican Summer (Washed Out, Real Estate, etc), Tamaryn makes windswept dream-pop reminiscent of classic 4AD.

4. Vivian Girls – All The Time
Raffish garage-pop from Vivian Girls, whose Katy Goodman has just announced an upcoming album from her solo project, La Sera.

5. Esben And The Witch – Skeleton Swoon
These talented young upstarts have now signed to Matador; ‘Skeleton Swoon’ gives you an idea of what to expect of what will surely be a hugely hyped debut LP.

6. Rustie – Inside Pikachu’s Cunt
Rustie will soon release his first EP for Warp Records, following this sensitively titled contribution to the label’s 2010 sampler comp.

7. Joker – City Hopper
The Bristol dubstepper has signed a deal with Universal publishing, which suggests his long awaited debut album is going to be everywhere.

8. Cheryl Cole – Parachute (Ill Blu Material)
Probably the only people to have released a 12″ on Hyperdub and remixed Cheryl Cole, Ill Blu play FACT’s free Halloween party at London’s Lock Tavern on October 31.

9. Modeselektor – Kill Bill Vol.4
As excitement builds around their Modeselektion series, another airing for this balls-out dancefloor belter from Modeselektor’s 2005 album Hello Mom!.

10. Aeroplane – Caramellas
Aeroplane’s imminent debut album is likely to be one of the biggest dance music releases of 2010; we’ll be amazed if any new tracks on there top ‘Caramellas’, arguably the most uplifting disco-house tune of the century so far.
