William Hill have slashed odds on Paul Weller winning tonight’s Mercury Prize.

When the nominations for the award, which sees the winner swipe £20, 000 as well as traditional spike in sales for the album they’ve been nominated for – unless you’re last year’s winner Speech Debelle, of course – were announced, the xx were strong favourites for their debut album, xx. Since then, ex-Jam and Style Council man Weller has mounted a late surge for his recent album Wake Up The Nation, and William Hill have cut his odds down to evens, in breathing distance of the xx, who remain favourites – just – at 10/11.

Meanwhile, former Mercury winner Dizzee Rascal’s Tongue N’ Cheek, who was one of the favourites early on, has plummeted to a 50/1 outsider. Here are William Hill’s odds as of today; the award ceremony takes place tonight.

The xx – 10/11
Paul Weller – evens
Wild Beasts – 9/1
Foals – 10/1
Laura Marling – 12/1
Mumford and Sons – 16/1
Villagers – 20/1
I Am Kloot – 25/1
Biffy Clyro – 25/1
Corinne Bailey Rae – 40/1
Dizzee Rascal – 50/1
Kit Downes Trio – 50/1
