Anna Kendrick, best known for her roles in the Twilight franchise and George Clooney vehicle Up In The Air, stars in a new video for LCD Soundsystem‘s ‘Pow Pow’.

In the video, entitled Supervideo: LCD f/Kendrick, the titular Hollywood actress plays a mysterious woman who travels through the LA underworld capturing the souls of notorious villains, accompanied by an entourage of lawyers and bodyguards. It was directed by David Ayer (Training Day).

Confused? Don’t be. This is the launch of a new series, Supervideo, conceived by MTV and US pop culture magazine MEAN. The idea of the series is to create music videos “featuring A-list talent”, a deliberate attempt to hark back to the “spirit and excitement of the must-see music video” that was synonymous with MTV in the 80s and 90s. Apparently Supervideo will give a diverse range of filmmakers the opportunity to create visual responses – from short form narrative and montage through to animation and all-out abstraction – to contemporary songs.

David Gale, Executive VP of MTV New Media, said “this series taps into all the passions that MTV has celebrated over the years: movies, celebrities, cool filmmakers and, of course, music. We are particularly excited that MEAN has brought these elements together to create a signature new project launching with one of our favorite writer-directors, David Ayer, and two of this generation’s signature artists (Kendrick and LCD Soundsystem).”

Anyway, judge for yourself, ‘cos here’s LCD f/Kendrick in full [NOTE: this clip is currently only available to US readers]:
