Matter, the 2600-capacity London club which went into administration last year, is to reopen in 2011.

Originally opened in 2008, the club soon found itself struggling, thanks in no small part to its out-of-the-way location (in the O2 complex, Greenwich) and prolonged engineering works on the Jubilee tube line that serviced it. It went into administration last year, along with its sister-club Fabric. Fabric bounced back mere months after, but it looked likely that Matter would be permanently consigned to the bin marked ‘mid-noughties hubris’.

Until now, that is. According to Resident Advisor, the new incarnation of Matter will be run by AEG, the company that owns the O2, and will no longer have any association with Fabric. Details of the relaunch have yet to be made public, but it’s expected to take place in early 2011.
