Sonic Youth are soon to release a new soundtrack LP, Simon Werner a Disparu, on SYR, their long running special projects label.

The music was recorded at the band’s Echo Canyon West studio in New Jersey in Spring of last year, after they watched the rushes of the new film by French director Fabrice Gobert. It was then edited to fit the film’s scenes as required.

The film, a high-school-set thriller, was premiered at Cannes in May 2010 and subsequently released in France. For this soundtrack release the band have returned the original tapes, “sometimes montaging multiple tracks together, other times extending cues into new sonic realms”.

The vinyl will be released on March 7, and it includes a digital download coupon with a bonus track.
