Another Honest Jon’s Chop Up! has been announced for Autumn 2011.
The four concerts taking place under this banner represent the follow-up to the first ever Honest Jon’s Chop Up, which took place at the Barbican back in 2008. “Chop up” is Nigerian slang for feast, and these unique events are all about the label’s diverse, international roll-call of artists coming together on stage.
For Another Honest Jon’s Chop Up, Honest Jon’s co-owner Damon Albarn will be joined by a glittering cast of musicians inclusing Tony Allen, Flear, Phil Cohran, Malian singer Ftoumata Diawara, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and Theo Parrish, with more still to be announced. We’re told to expect a fully rehearsed “25 persons deep live performance which will last for 2 and a half hours.”
Dates at London’s Barbican (October 29) and Dublin’s Vicar St (November 1) have been confirmed, with apparently two more to follow. More information when we have it.
