The original ‘Alphaville’ was a stark, subtly sad early cut from Bryan Ferry’s last album Olympia.
So who do you call when you want things lightened up for a remix? A Norwegian disco producer, naturally, and Todd Terje is one of the best. He takes Ferry’s remorseful vocal and completely transforms it into something wide-eyed and optimistic, with some of the sparkliest piano house shuffle you’ll hear anywhere this year. Listen to a decent-sized clip below.
Terje’s remix, along with a Quiet Village take on ‘Me Oh My’, is available on a limited Ferry release from The Vinyl Factory.
