The brilliant new cut from Hot City’s DJ Haus, already featured in these parts, now has a bespoke video.
The result, shot by Crackstevens, is essentially a low-rent version of Justice‘s ‘D.A.N.C.E’ clip. A figure shuffles through a range of landscapes in a jacket that looks like it was painted by John Squire. All the while, psychedelic footage of gurning ravers scrolls by in real time on her torso. The clip heavily underscores the UK Hardcore elements of the track, which actually does DJ Haus something of a disservice: there’s much more to ‘Needin’ U’ than simple po-faced revivalism. In any case, it’s a colourful clip made with charm, if not oodles of initiative.
‘Needin’ U’ is due on April 6, courtesy of DJ Haus’ own Unknown To The Unknown label.
