Curren$y files lawsuit against Roc-A-Fella founder Damon Dash

Being stoner-rap’s enduring poster boy, Curren$y doesn’t typically get too het up about things. Recent label complications, however, have drawn him from the weedspot to the courtroom.

According to This Beat Goes, the rapper is in the process of suing Roc-A-Fella lynchpin Damon Dash for releasing his music without permission. The dispute dates back to 2010, when Dash released the rapper’s Pilot Talk and Pilot Talk II LPs (both not inconsiderable successes) on his own DD172 label.

Curren$y maintains that Dash had yet to cement the deal before he went ahead and released the albums. Curren$y also claims that Dash’s activity compromises his own requirement to offer exclusivity to current label Warner Bros. In turn, Dash insists that Curren$y had failed to fully inform him about the arrangement with Warner. Curren$y is reportedly hoping to defeat Dash to the tune of $1.5m.
