Lianne La Havas - 'Lost And Found' (Lapalux remix)

Earlier last month, Lapalux was one of a number of artists invited to perform live at the Tate Modern.

Sandwiched between Actress’ pointillist experiments and Koreless’ straight-for-the-gut productions, the young Essex-based producer kicked up a storm of glitchy textures and processed drums. Amidst the clatter, his remix of Lianne La Havas’ ‘Lost And Found’ rung out bright and clear – the perfect accompaniment to the Yayoi Kusama-inspired visuals flickering beside him. Playground are now streaming the track in full, and its a wonderful slice of wistful electronica.

Over a fragile two-step rhythm, Lapalux sketches an instrumental that tentatively pushes forward, then pulls back. His sound palette is busy, but there’s a real human touch – a considerate sense of give and take – at work. La Havas’ voice is charcoal-smoked and thick as treacle. Lapalux’s productions might occasionally sound a little polite, but ‘Lost And Found’ shows him teasing ghosts out of his machines. Beautiful fare.
