Harmonious Thelonious has a new EP out entitled Ting Tong.
It’s the fourth release to date from Stefan Schwarder’s current solo project, the sound of which is described by the Dusseldorf-based artist, with admirable frankness, as “American minimalism vs African drumming vs European sequencing.” In other words, think raw, l0w-slung techno with lots of dense, tribal-style percussion – fans of everything from Jon Hassell and Holger Czukay to Nacho Patrol and Cut Hands, via Konono No.1 and Kasai All-Stars, should take note of this material if they haven’t already.
Ting Tong, out now on 12″ vinyl courtesy of Asafar Recordings, features four powerful new cuts, beginning with ‘Argwohnische Muziek’ (‘Suspicious Muziek’), which you can listen to above.
Tracklist:
1. Argwohnische Muziek
2. A.O.
3. Profaner Tanz
4. Ting Tong
