Watch Sigur Ros's new video, starring Shia LaBeouf

Sigur Ros have revealed the third video from their new album Valtari.

As with the last two, it comes as part of the Icelandic group’s Mystery Film Experiment series, which saw a dozen film makers each receive a modest budget, with the objective of creating a video based on what comes into their heads when listening to Valtari.

The video for ‘Fjögur píanó’ comes from Bombay Beach director Alma Har’el, and stars Shia LaBeouf as one half of “a man and woman locked in a never-ending cycle of addiction and desire”. In the words of Sigur Ros bassist Georg Holm, “We really had no idea what to expect from Alma. Originally she was going to film us on super 8 in Iceland all playing the piano lines from the song, but then she rang and said she’d met Shia Labeouf and they’d changed the idea, that was the last we heard of the concept and she told us nothing about what was going on.

“At first I didn’t know what to make of the video, because it is so full of ideas and confusion. But now I completely love it. It seems to have no beginning and no end, and just makes you think about what might and might not be going on. It’s a puzzle and I think it’s absolutely amazing.”

Alma’s film follows efforts by Ragnar Kjartansson and Inga Birgisdóttir, both of which are available to watch here. Other people working on efforts are John Cameron Mitchell, Vice photographer Ryan McGinley, past Sigur Ros directors Arni and Kinski, and Ramin Bahrani.
