Curious one, this: venturesome NY rapper Le1f has stitched together a mixtape over influences and favourite jams.

Le1f’s Dark York, recently repped in our Quarter Report of our top albums of the last few months, sounded like the results of five different imaginations at work. Le1f’s own productions darted from shimmering juke to melody-led, groggy IDM; Nguzunguzu and 5kin And Bone5, meanwhile, both contributed some of their finest work to date. Le1f’s persona – part battle-rapper, part neighbourhood pervert – provided a compelling throughline.

Le1f’s mix, produced for Opening Ceremony, helps show where Le1f’s head is at, and it’s an invigorating set. Nas and Waka’s ‘Rooster In My Rari’ both get repped, as do odder charms (C¥bergiga, Fatima Al-Qadiri). Regular point of comparison Mykki Blanco also appears.
