Toronto producer Sandro Perri’s releases as Polmo Popo and Glissandro 70 – largely on the hallowed Constellation imprint – are an object lesson in dreamy, folk-tinged electronica.
Tom Croose and Slow Hands of NY duo Worst Friends take the theme and run with it on this remix EP for Phonica Records’ Special Editions series.
Croose – whose name was last seen on a tropical edit of ‘Cho Chua’ for Caribou’s Resista label last year – stretches ‘Love & Light’ out into a blissful, balearic slow jam, letting the vocal float effortlessly over a bubbling synthetic backing. Slow Hands, meanwhile, gives ‘The Drums’ a brisker treatment, deploying blurry house stabs and susurrating hi-hats to propel the thing into a jubilant breakdown, before Croose returns for a sultrier re-imagining of the same track.
Love and Light / The Drums Remixes is out now on limited 180g vinyl. You can stream the EP in its entirety below, and pick up a physical copy here.
