Jar Moff album on PAN

The dazzlingly on-form PAN label has announced its next release: an album by Jar Moff, entitled Commercial Mouth.

Athens-based collagist Moff has had a couple of digital releases on Leaving Records in the past, but if his name is familiar to you, chances are it’s from RVNG Intl.’s expanded reissue of Harald Grosskopf’s kraut classic Synthesist, for which Moff contributed a version of ‘B. Aldrian’ alongside the likes of Oneohtrix Point Never, Keyhole Voyeur (James Ferraro) and Stellar OM Source.

Commercial Mouth consists of two long pieces, ‘Tziaitzomanasou’ (12:24) and ‘Commercial Mouth’ (12:56). According to PAN, the record is “a baffling yet functioning head-on collision between early plunderphonics and an abstracted futuristic hip hop aesthetic”, and fits alongside Lee Gamble’s recent Diversions 1994-1996 in its remodelling of the sonic detritus of our recent past. You can listen to a five-minute preview via the Soundcloud player above.

The album is due out on December 7, and the sleeve art, as we’ve come to expect from PAN, is terrific.
