The new version includes multi-touch support and a host of updated features.

Image Line has just released FL Studio 12, the latest update to the popular music production software formerly known as Fruity Loops.

If you’re a PC user, you’ll be able to take advantage of a host of improvements immediately – the flashiest new feature is multi-touch support, meaning tablet or smartphone users will be able to control the software with a touchscreen. Owners of ultra-high resolution 4K, 5K, and 8K displays will also find FL Studio is a lot sharper than before, while the new version also contains improved versions of the software’s bundled plug-ins.

The promised version for Mac users has yet to materialise however – despite overcoming the technical barriers to create an OSX version, it’s not available on the Image Line store as yet, meaning Mac users looking to imitate Lex Luger’s production style authentically will have to wait a little longer.

Owners of FL Studio 11 will be able to upgrade their version now free of charge, but if you’re yet to take the plunge, FL Studio 12 is available in three versions from the Image Line website: Fruity for $99/€92.33, Producer for $199/€185.59, and Signature for $299/€278.85.

If you need a primer on FL Studio, it featured in our list of the 14 pieces of software that shaped modern music. [via Digital DJ Tips]
