The New York vocalist makes R&B his own.
Thurmon Green debuted last year with Adolphus, an EP that paired his timeless songwriting and vocals with woozy, modern productions for a personal take on R&B that bridges the genre’s past and present.
His next EP, Tired of Being Funny, is due out mid-September. While the songwriting remains strong, the palette is different, as his producers draw from hip-hop, pop and 80s R&B while he sways, struts and swaggers.
Lead single ‘Only 1’ is as good a place to start as any, with its hip-hop groove, buoyant synths and Little Dragon-ish melody — stream it below. Green will appear on Know Wave’s Doom Dab Radio tonight at 11pm ET and will perform at the Elvis Guesthouse on Friday.
