Veteran UK rapper Roots Manuva will release a new album, Bleeds, this October.

Described by Big Dada as Roots’ “most emotionally affecting and powerful release” since his breakthrough album Run Come Save Me, the album features production from Four Tet, Adrian Sherwood, Switch’s new production team and young British beatmaker Fred.

The album’s title, in Roots’ words, is an “egocentric jest of daring to do things in the tradition of Jesus: I’m ready to bleed for the artform.”

It’s also a reference to the different genres that feature on the album, and the way that reggae, techno, funk and more “blend together to create liquid soul, the blood, the bleeds that paint infinite sacred wonders in our dreams and unfold in our day-to-day.”
