“My 3rd musically related thing I want to accomplish this year is not to make another album but to do something waaaay stupider”.
Even for fans of Lupe Fiasco, the rapper’s 2011 album, Lasers, was seen as a massive disappointment. Still, the momentum and excitement didn’t stop it from debuting at number one. So what do you do with a record everyone bought, but most people hate? Its creator has a really good idea.
Fiasco appeared on Instagram today with a proposition he said was inspired by watching a recent documentary on Atari’s E.T. game. Unlike its heartwarming (and box office demolishing) film counterpart, the game was an infamous flop that ruined Atari — though not as infamous as the landfill they eventually dumped the unsold cartridges. So here’s the deal: Fiasco won’t give you a refund and he won’t apologize (he loves Lasers), but he will take back your copy and disintegrate them all with a real, actual laser this New Year’s Eve.
Yes, that is correct. In his own words, “if you have a physical copy of LASERS that you absolutely hate and wish for it to be rendered non-existent then you can send it back to me and I’ll have it destroyed with an actual giant laser and send it into next world in spectacular grand fashion and we can all get on with life nice and happy like it never happened. No hard feelings.”
Sure, most of us have probably used a CD we don’t want anymore for the few, thrilling seconds of watching it make fireworks in the microwave, but this could be unprecedented. Check out the Instagram post below and start digging through your CD collection.
My 3rd musically related thing I want to accomplish this year is not to make another album but to do something waaaay stupider…I want to unmake an album. I watched the ATARI E.T. documentary and got inspired. So here's my idea. For all you people who really hated my 3rd album LASERS for whatever reason in the universe I want you to send it back to me so I can destroy it with an actual Laser. You not getting any money back or an apology or anything like that. The fact still remains that a lot of people really loved LASERS (Me Included) despite the popular myth that it's one of the worst rap albums ever but sometimes the myth can be stronger than the truth. So yeah….if you have a physical copy of LASERS that you absolutely hate and wish for it to be rendered non-existent then you can send it back to me and I'll have it destroyed with an actual giant laser and send it into next world in spectacular grand fashion and we can all get on with life nice and happy like it never happened. No hard feelings. If your down hit me up in the comments or on Twitter with the hashtag #TheReturnOfLasers and if we get enough #LaserHaters willing to have their physical copy destroyed then will do it on New Year's Day 2016!!! To you #LaserLovers out there with physical copies just sit back and enjoy the craziness that's about to happen lol… This is a #WellBoggleMeGiblets© production
This is normally the part where we share the album or song, but we care about our readers too much to subject them to Lasers. Here’s a documentary on actual lasers.
