The Republican candidate takes a chance on Yeezy as president.
Kanye West has started to express a “serious” desire to run for President in 2020, recently heaping praise on Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson, whom he found to be “the most brilliant guy”, as he told Vanity Fair.
Carson responded to Kanye’s support in a recent ABC interview where he recounted their conversation and recalled being impressed with West’s “business acumen”, suggesting the rapper makes music that’s “uplifting” for young people.
“I was extremely impressed with his business acumen,” said Carson. “He knows a lot about business. And, you know, I talked to him about the possibility of him and maybe himself and some of the other people in the pop culture doing some music that might be uplifting, that might give young women a sense of their value and young men a sense of responsibility. I think it could be a tremendous thing in our society.”
Asked if he thought Kanye would make a good president, Carson added: “I’m certainly willing to give him a chance. We’ll see. He’ll be able to explain things and see if he resonates with the people.”
