Make Music I by I 15.09.16

Watch Lady Leshurr judge FACT readers’ beats – and freestyle over the winner

Make Music is FACT’s new section devoted to making music anywhere, whether you’re a seasoned producer or a total novice, using an arsenal of analog gear or just your iPhone.

The Birmingham MC brings her fiery personality to Instabeats episode one.

The idea is simple: FACT readers submit their own music via Instagram and an artist then rates and slates the entries, before dropping a freestyle over one winner. The first episode of this brand new FACT series sees the unstoppable Lady Leshurr step up, checking out more than 50 tracks from bedroom producers before selecting a beat to let loose on. Spoiler – the resulting freestyle goes hard.

“My writing process is – if you’ve got a banging beat and my ears ping up, I’ll get on my phone and I’m writing straight away,” the ‘Queen’s Speech’ MC told us during filming. “It has to be something that stands out… I wanna hear songs I haven’t heard before, fresh new sounds.”

Check out what she made of FACT readers’ efforts in the video above, and stay tuned to the end of her explosive freestyle including some A+ disses (“please do not act like you’re a big man when you go home to watch Ben 10”). Check out all the entries here, and for more Make Music, click here. Leshurr’s new single ‘Where Are You Now?’ is out now.
