Pokémon GO for synths?

Behringer’s affordable DeepMind 12 synthesizer is getting a rather unique interface, adding to its already long list of features. The synth will come with a pioneering augmented reality system, adding a real time 3D visualization to the world around you.

This brand new interface can be used to control a number of elements – while the patching (where you manipulate the envelope and oscillators with your hands above the keyboard) seems slightly gimmicky, the practical applications could be useful. Particularly interesting is the ability to be able to show – using markers on the synth’s keys – the correct notes in a scale so you can always stay on key. Who needs skills, anyway?

It has already been announced that the DeepMind 12 will retail at $999.99 and will boast 12 note polyphony – not bad for a fully analog synthesizer. If you don’t fancy the augmented reality angle, you will still be able to play with the synth’s settings over WiFi with a special app.

The DeepMind 12 is expected to appear on shelves before the end of the year.
