Jamie xx also played a track from his solo album.

The xx played the main stage of Coachella last night, performing tracks from across their career.

Their set featured several tracks from new album I See You, including singles ‘On Hold’ and ‘Say Something Loving’, as well as fan favourites from their debut and Coexist.

The band also came together to perform ‘Loud Places’ from Jamie xx’s solo album In Colour.

Addressing the crowd at one point, band member Oliver Sim said: “I do not have the words to tell you how happy we are to be here. Thank you so much for having us.”

Their performance was accompanied by a light show that featured dozens of illuminated flying drones. According to the LA Times, they were programmed to form a myriad of shapes and objects including a ribbon, a cube and the famous carousel that frames the Empire Polo Field, where Coachella is held.

The xx’s set was unscathed by technical problems which later plagued Radiohead, who took to the stage shortly after them to close Friday night.

Lady Gaga is headlining later tonight, followed by Kendrick Lamar on Sunday.
